CONTRA LA REPRESIÓN EN TAILANDIA

Declaración internacional de solidaridad con los y las Camisas Rojas de Tailandia.
Con constancia y determinación, los Camisas Rojas se movilizaron durante más de dos meses en las calles de Bangkok para afirmar su aspiración a la democracia y la justicia social.

El gobierno dirigido por Abhisit Vejjajiva eligió responder a sus aspiraciones con la violencia y la represión. Al autorizar el uso de armas de guerra para dispersar las movilizaciones, cometió serias violaciones a los derechos humanos. El balance es grave : por lo menos 89 muertos y más de 2000 heridos.

Hoy en día, no existen las más mínimas libertades democráticas : hay órdenes de detención contra 99 personas sin que se hayan divulgado sus nombres. Los lugares donde se encuentran detenidos la mayoría de los oponentes al régimen son guardados en secreto. El gobierno censura a los medios alternativos. Las penas con que amenaza el régimen son particularmente graves : de 3 a 15 años por el delito de “lesa majestad” e incluso la pena de muerte por “terrorismo”.

El gobierno trata a los Camisas Rojas como si fueran “terroristas”. Es un movimiento complejo constituido en lo esencial por gente común del pueblo pauperizado, cuyos derechos políticos elementales, como el respeto a la decisión de las urnas, son violados.

El gobierno tailandés puede llevar adelante libremente su política represiva porque sus constantes violaciones a los derechos humanos no suscitan ni la solidaridad ni la condena internacional que merecen. Llamamos a las organizaciones progresistas y democráticas : a exigir en el mayor número de países que sea posible el fin de la represión y el respeto de las libertades fundamentales en Tailandia, a iniciar una campaña internacional por la liberación de los prisioneros políticos, y a reclamar el fin de las intimidaciones y las inculpaciones contra los Camisas Rojas.

Exigimos del gobierno tailandés la anulación del Estado de Urgencia y el restablecimiento de las libertades democráticas en el país, el fin de la represión contra los Camisas Rojas y la liberación inmediata de todos los detenidos.
